Hospital Courtyard garden & furniture

FOWH Committee members, Mary Amin & Julie Hocken, organised a group of ladies to tidy up the two courtyards’ flower beds in the hospital.

On an afternoon with heavy rain expected, six Warminster Hospital Volunteer Gardeners pitched up with their forks at the ready. A very overgrown boarder was tackled and tenacious thugs (weeds) were uprooted. As the pile of weeds grew, a thunderous downpour sent all the gardeners running for shelter, but 10 minutes later there were blue skies, temperatures soared and off came the raincoats and jumpers. Bottles of water were gratefully received from Suzanne Bennett (Voluntary Services Coordinator, Warminster Community Hospital) and the pile of weeds grew to a mountain. A good job done!

There were other gardening projects, which included Mary Baxter and her husband, Richard Baxter, former local solicitor with Farnfield & Nicholls, who used his undoubted painting skills to brighten up the wooden benches and chairs in the two courtyards at the hospital, which are used by the nurses, staff & patients.
