Christmas Message from Senior Charge Nurse

Christmas & New Year Message from
Senior Charge Nurse, David Dalton
Longleat Ward Manager
Warminster Community Hospital

Along with the rest of the NHS, we have had a tough nine months, but the support of the FOWH over this period and the FOWH Christmas presents for the patients & staff have helped the morale of all in these difficult times. I am delighted to say that Longleat is now fully reopened, filling up quickly and the ward has a real buzz about it after a very difficult period.

I started as Ward Manager in July. There was a big backlog of recruitment from the first Covid wave, since then we have appointed 8 new support workers, an Occupational Therapist, a Therapy Support worker, a Therapy Practitioner and a new position of Business Coordinator, who supports me and the ward with HR, rostering and much else besides. One of our nurses is retiring soon, and another left to work at the RUH. Beth, who was a support worker, completed her Nursing Associate course, which is a brand new nursing qualification, and has started working on the Longleat Ward.

I have attached a photo of myself (under a mask!) giving a present to a patient, plus the team wanted to send a picture of us saying thank you to the Friends for all support they have given the ward. We look forward to the help FOWH can give to the new Longleat Ward & garden, when the project gets underway in 2021.

Many thanks to the Friends for its support & help and wishing all the people of Warminster a healthy and happy 2021.
