Mark your calendars: the Mummes are planning the second “Tour de Friends” to the United States for this coming July. Dates at Memorial Lutheran Church in Houston, TX are already set for July 14-15. If you would like to have Rev. Jonathan Mumme preach at your congregation, or present about Westfield House between June 30th and July 13th, let us know! And anyone in southern Wisconsin or northern Illinois who would like to have Dcs. Rachel Mumme give a presentation during those days can sign up here, too. Thanks – and tell your friends!

First Tour de Friends in the United States

Jonathan and Rachel Mumme wrapped up the first “Tour de Friends” in the United States, hitting the road to visit pastors and congregations and spread the good word about Westfield House. Two weeks in March found them traveling to Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Missouri, and Nebraska. All told, they visited with about 25 pastors (along with several former students of Westfield House!), and started the ball rolling for new undergraduate study abroad programmes at four universities.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Marvin M. Schwan Charitable Foundation, all gifts in 2012 up to the first $80,000 will be matched, making donor dollars stretch even further. Gifts can be designated for a specific purpose (i.e. student scholarships, library renovation, theological resources), or given as undesignated, allowing funds to be used where needed the most.

With great joy in my heart, I give thanks to our Lord for the many blessings He has bestowed upon Westfield House over the past 50 years, both in terms of those whom He has placed there to teach and serve, and those whom He has sent there to learn.

Westfield House serves not only as the house of theological studies for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of England, but our Lord has blessed the church throughout the world by using Westfield House as a beacon for Lutheran theological education worldwide.

I pray that the Lord continue to bless those who teach and those who learn at Westfield House so that the glorious light of the Gospel may ever shine forth to all parts of the world.

May the Lord Jesus Christ grant you comfort, strength, and joy through His word of grace as you celebrate 50 years of His blessings to Westfield House and to those beyond those hallowed halls on whom His blessings overflow.
